Meet our teacher, Kate Bulgakova

“Hi, I’m Kate Bulgakova, founder of Art Backyard.

I hold a Master’s degree in Architecture and a Master’s degree in Art Education. For over 15 years, I have worked in design, education, and creative programming, helping children discover the world through art.

Art Backyard was created from a simple idea: art should be more than learning how to draw. It should inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Through hands-on projects, students explore architecture, famous artists, world cultures, history, and sustainability. They build, design, experiment, and create using both traditional and recycled materials while developing problem-solving skills and creative thinking.

My goal is to help children see how exciting and diverse our world is. Every project becomes an opportunity to explore new places, cultures, ideas, and ways of thinking. Whether students are designing a Victorian house, building a model inspired by a famous architect, or creating artwork connected to a different country, they learn that creativity can turn a simple idea into something meaningful.

At Art Backyard, we encourage children to think independently, express themselves confidently, and develop the skills they need to become creative problem-solvers of the future.”

Our space

Group of children celebrating a birthday, holding handmade paper-mâché angels, with a blackboard in the background displaying "Happy Birthday" and a large paper angel decoration hanging above.

There is a white bookshelf with colorful books and a plant on top, and a multi-panel artwork on the wall depicting buildings and scenes from Germany.

Our school space allows kids to be creative and use their imagination in decorating the walls with drawings. We have rooms for private and group classes and a mini-library with books about architecture and arts for kids. Also, we have a space for adults where you can work while waiting for kids and enjoy a cup of coffee. Welcome to ArtBackyard!
