Our Foundation Year introduces young children to art through exploration, imagination, and hands-on making. At this age, the goal is not to create a “perfect” finished project, but to help children become confident creators.
Students experiment with drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and construction while exploring color, shape, texture, pattern, and form. They learn to use different art materials and tools, strengthen fine motor skills, and begin developing spatial and 3-dimensional thinking.
Students are encouraged to make their own choices, develop ideas, solve simple creative problems, and discover that there can be many different solutions to the same artistic challenge.
The Foundation Year prepares students for the next stage of the Art Backyard program: Art & Architecture I.
This package includes 4 or 5 classes (1 class per week during 1 calendar month).
